Now Viewing: violence_jack_(character)Tag type: Character バイオレンスジャック The eponymous character of the Violence_Jack franchise. He is a giant, muscular_male with black_hair. He wears a sleeveless open coat, a scarf, and sarashi around his abdomen and wraps around his wrists. He has sharp fang like teeth. In his calmer moments, he appears to be just an exceptionally tall human, but in his most ruthless, bloodthirsty moments, his visage appears demonic. He is a living legend and mythical figure that emerged sometime after the apocalyptic earthquake that separated Kanto from the rest of the world. No one, not even himself, knows who he is and his motives are often inscrutable to others. His name is just a nickname that he goes by due to his weapon of choice being a jack knife and his appearances being accompanied with lots of bloodshed. What is clear to others is his strength, he is superhumanly strong, being able to lift horses and eviscerate human bodies with his bare hands. The jack knife, in his hands, is as deadly as the sharpest sword. On top of this, Jack seemingly has supernatural powers, and from others' perspectives can appear or vanish with no warning. Jack is so powerful that the similarly giant Slum King, the main antagonist of the manga, is often seen as the only one who can truly go toe to toe with him. For this reason, others try to get Jack on their side. Jack's loyalty and his life are bound to Kanto. He does not engage in the atrocities the most depraved villains of the setting engage in and will help the oppressed fight off their oppressors. However, Jack is ruthless and aggressive in his tactics, some of which put even the people he's helping in danger. Jack believes that people who choose to live in Kanto need a certain degree of courage and resourcefulness to survive and some of his actions are geared towards provoking his allies to rise up to the challenge. Jack also sees himself as a mirror to others. Their inner character and how they treat him will be the same way he treats them. For these reasons, the people of Kanto are often divided on Jack. Some see him as a savior, others see him as a monster. In the manga, and an aspect of the story that the anime mostly leaves out, Jack mostly wanders the Kanto wasteland alone, except for two phoenixes that accompany him and act as reconnaissance. These two phoenixes are alternate forms of Jack in their humanoid forms. One form is a kid form, who's comparatively more innocent in demeanor, and the other form is a woman with long hair. Both forms wear less clothing than Jack with the two of them being topless except for a cloak and shorts. All forms have similar physical attributes albeit slightly tweaked to fit their respective builds and gender. He is the main character of the story by virtue of him being the primary recurring character. However, the story functionally has Jack often act as a supporting character who appears late in a story arc with each arc having a different central protagonist. Jack's true identity/origins are revealed at the end of the story, but it differs depending on the incarnation. In the original mangahe's the reincarnation of Devilman's protagonist Fudou Akira, which is coupled with the reveal that the entire manga has actually been a sequel to Devilman. In Shin Violence Jack, he is again secretly a Devilman character, but in this version he's Amon Jack's voice constantly changes throughout his anime appearances. In the first OVA Harlem Bomber, he is voiced by Gendou_Tessha. In the second OVA Evil Town, he's voiced by Kobayashi_Kiyoshi. In the third OVA, Hell's Wind, he is voiced by Ishizuka_Unshou, who played him again in Chibi_Chara_Go_Nagai_World, while Kiyoshi ironically ends up playing the villain of said OVA, Dante.
