For me she is undeniably the #1 loli artist to ever live.

It was only several days ago I noticed she had a Pixiv account, and when I followed her, turns out she had already been following me!

I told her some of my personal admirations for her work. It was quite lengthy, and even asked how she improved when she was learning, how she got so good at drawing, how to draw loli effectively, and I told her what I am struggling with right now.

She gave me a very generous reply, filled with encouragement and helpful technical tips and told me how she improved at drawing, and how I can improve like her (her improvement grind is insane btw lol, the epitome of blood sweat & tears). Wow I am so motivated right now.

I guess I e-met my hero, and she turned out way more awesome than I ever imagined.

That was probably my very first fan mail. If you look up to one of your heroes or role models, try expressing your gratitude and wish them well. I think you will make their day, and they might respond! You might not get another chance!

Cool that you got to talk to her. The art style doesn't do much for me personally. Their faces kinda remind me of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but good for you

Hot damn, someone else a fan of Hayashibara's work, well met. How do you know the artist is a she though? I take it that you conversed with the artist with the pixiv mail function (is it like live text messaging or just basic back and forth email function, and did you converse with them in English or Japanese?)

Still, my only gripe about the artist is their name. I mean, whenever people that grew up from the '90s, both in Japan and internationally, hears the name "Hayashibara", the first and likely "only" person that comes to mind is none other than Hayashibara Megumi, Japan's most famous seiyuu and the world renowned "Queen of voice acting". Heck, for a long time I honestly thought that Megumi's family is the only one in all of Japan that uses the Hayashibara name. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered an artist who draws smut also uses the same name. On one hand, if this is the artist's real family name it's a great honor to be associated with such famed celebrity, but on the other hand having a famed celebrity share the same name with a smut artist is definitely troublesome in the image department, and I'd prefer to think about Megumi the seiyuu instead of a smut artist whenever the Hayashibara name comes up.

Good to see the artist is still active, I'd certainly like to have a chat with them as well, get their side of the story.

That's very cool. I don't have much of my own to show to artists but I had some nice little interactions with artists on pixiv and twitter, it's nice to tell people what I love about their work.

I used Japanese. I know a little about what Japanese people are like. Not talking much in texts is common, and they are very reserved people. She even mentioned how she is a very unresponsive artist in her commission form. So I tried my best to be super respectful & formal, and wrote as literal & to the point as possible without being rude, all in just 1 message, because I didn't want her to misunderstand my context. I tried to be careful with my curiosity too as I didn't want to pry for info or even merely seem like I'm prying, so whatever I didn't need to ask, I just didn't, lol.

She gave me one long, super warm response, and I felt bad leaving it at that so I sent another thank you mail addressing her words towards me, but I totally don't expect her to reply again. I think if she really doesn't reply again, it means my asian instincts are on point.

Judging by how she has been a pro for so long, I'm assuming she's old. All the more reason to be polite.

If you're going to DM her please don't do it anytime soon lol. Let her forget about me first xD

And idk what gender she actually is ofc, she's nowhere to be found, but her alias/or real name (who knows) is unisex but mostly used in a feminine context. Thankfully this isn't English, so I didn't need to worry about him/her/them bullshit.
